If the Board has to explain it in mathematical terms, what the hell, who cares,
People who are curious as to how the whole system works?

even General Mathematics HSC has stuff in it about algebraic modelling and linear+quadratic functions

So it wouldn't be an issue as most of the state today is mathematically inclined and literate
But in Advanced you just do "tangent to the curve and derivative of a function" instead of "Linear Functions" and "Quadratics" :)
What are you on about?

Yes it does. I'm applying for my subjects, including Music I practicals.

Lol, it depends on whether you want to see them or not.
hahahaha ye i guess the fact that i cudnt give 2 shits about my raw marks is a fairly contributing factor in my final decision

well hopefully ur content when u receive ur raw marks =]]]

Haha, thanks. I'm already content - I'll see how I actually did, not how the Board says I did. That's all I care about.

Well the raw marks would still be high if your moderated+aligned mark was high. The higher the mark, the less it was pushed up (as a general rule)

I.e.

95 in Physics = approximately 84 raw
90 in Physics = approximately 74 raw

:)
we can be more accurate about these when we get more replies from the FOI requests. i thought ~78 raw = 90 aligned.

84 raw wouldnt = 95. the higher you get, the less it is aligned so ive heard. it's be 92 ish.

we only have hugh parsonage's results:
chem: 87/100 raw = 94/100
mx2: 87/120 raw= 93/100
mx1: 74/84 raw= 96/100
english (adv) : 81/100 raw = 89/100
music 2: 80/100 raw= 91/100
music extension: 45/50 raw = 48/50
sor:43/50 raw: 44/50

the more data we have the more we can work out what raw marks we need to get certain marks.

Just remember that the cut-offs change every year so it would be a guide but not definitive.

it looks like SOR1 doesn't align at all! Looks like I'll have to get 90% in the actual exam to get a Band 6 - that's like 45/50!!!

MX1 doesn't look too bad. 74/84 => 96/100. not a problem then

MX2 looks bad. 87/120 raw => 93/100. I dun think I can get above 70/120 in the actual hsc exam. too hard :(

SORI isn't that hard... You could memorise 6 essays and get a b6 (not that I endorse the act)
