It's not likely it'll pass the Senate.

I haven't read the entire report but I still fail to see how they are going to block child porn when pedophiles generally trade their shit over private networks that this filter won't able to spy on.

May I just say: Fuck Kevin Rudd. He's pretty much the sole reason this is going ahead. Conroy is his scapegoat, most Labour voters are against it, as are many state Labour parties and Young Labour.

I certainly won't be voting Labour next election. My only fear is that Abbott is more batshit crazy religious authoritarian than Rudd, so I don't want my preferences leaking to Liberal either. At least Turnbull was a safe bet.

Ah fuck, it doesn't matter: I'll be voting Green and the Greens will have balance of power in the Senate next election, meaning they will block it. Thank god.

If this goes through, it can only go down hill from here. My interest in moving to the UK in the near future has seriously been strenghened.

Unless they put up Clive Hamilton as their senate candidate.

Of all the places you could possibly choose to avoid censorship and big brother, you choose the UK?!

The UK is the one of the epicenters of this nonsense.

They're way ahead of Australia in terms of big brother society, In fact they were found to be even more of a surveillance society than America.

All of this crap was staged and plan ages ago like this Copenhagen bullshit. Rely on the ignorant to support policies that will screw them bad later on.

Western governments are becoming no different to the nations they are critical of such as China and Russia. The only difference is that they're better at taking freedoms away through stealth and hiding it behind a "good cause".
