So many bad policies.
China-like internet filter for one.
Think i saw a thread on here saying communist countires seem to have internet filters. Its fine if the filter only gets rid of sick freak pedo sites, but normal sites like google....please don't ban google like china...

polls suggest
otherwise
Find me an election year since 1987 that did not see the leader of the opposition take the lead at some point? Tony Abbott is not an electable, or as Greg Sheridan would say "usable" leader. Yes Rudd campaigning poorly. Yes, he is still running the campaign you run when you're an opposition leader and the government of the day is old and stale. But the alternative is a polarizing figure, he does not exert the safeness of a Hockey or a Turnbull and as such he'll need an extremely unpopular government to come close to ever winning an election.

Now that Rudd is no longer this bright new thing he needs to create some actual positives about his leadership instead of absence of negatives, which is generally more important but not enough in itself once you've been around a little while. But this government is not yet three years old and Tony Abbott did himself too much damage as a minister of the Howard government. I'm starting to come round to the view that if Rudd wins this election he will not make it to the one after but I maintain the only chance of a liberal victory at this election was Turnbull in full swing and that ain't Tony Abbott in any sense.

they ain't gonna ban google, they're only gonna censor certain search results e.g. Google censored the EncyclopediaDramatica article on Aboriginals from search results, because it is extremely racist

When did it become the responsibility of the government to censor what I see in the first place?
censorship has happened many times before eg. during war.

this isnt censorship - everyone is blowing this out of proportion and it probaly wont even get passed in the senate anyways.

Of course it is fucking censorship.

Censorship (from Apple Mac Dictionary): noun
the practice of officially examining books, movies, etc., and suppressing 'unacceptable' parts

That is what is happening.

That is censorship.

And who gives a damn if it has happened in the past - it shouldn't be happening in the present. War happened in the past. Genocide happened in the past. And I suppose you would feel perfectly OK in justifying a whole ton of other abhorrent practices simply because other people did them first?

it is censorship (in a sense) but not the bad censorship your talking about.

im not backing it (because i havent seen the details) but i think it aims to get rid of overseas websites with child porn in them ect.

i was answering the question "since when have govts been able to censor stuff".

geez - calm down and stop assuming the worst with your giant stereotypes ie. liberals.

I'm pretty sure this has been pointed out a few times to this Lauchlan fella.
he has been known to reject facts when they are thrown in his face and pass them off as opinions. oh well life goes on, for everyone else at least
