Re: General Thoughts: Biology

Uh, isn't polymerase what binds DNA strands...? Or am I going crazy..
You're not crazy, DNA polymerase is the enzyme in DNA replication

Catalase is the enzyme in liver (and potatoes)
as for me... I wrote catalase and confused myself later on, crossed it out and wrote amylase

I was stuck on question 3 was it d or c?
From what I've studied, they all come from a common ancestor, and hence divergent evolution in common characteristics in the embryo (D). But then there was C, where the embryos have structures that look similar.
What did you guys do and why??

As an accelerated biology student who got 95
looked at multiple choice, got to say, much more harder than last year's but should've been manageable
20 is definitely B
Sorry to ask, but assuming you're smart and all, could you go through the m/c and give us your answers so I can compare? :)

It is C- falls under the dot point about comparative embryology to support the theory of evolution.

EDIT- The fact that they look similar suggests a common ancestor or something

Yeah... I think a lot of people would have done very well in the MC bit. But I think this year they will make the marking criteria really harsh...

Could 6 be D though?
Because C is increase antibodies against disease but shouldn't vaccines increase memory B and T cells
And D was decrease number of antigens that trigger an immune response because after vaccines, it takes less antigens to trigger the immune response and start the secondary response??

I put D, had the same reasoning as you
