Our school is ranked 222.
Currently, just before trials, our ranks stand at 1/71 with a score of 99.5% from three assesment tasks. On 3/71 (because there are two people on first) with a score of 97.5% is me and two other people.

Our cohort is generally quite smart but I'm just wondering do people think that our cohort REALLY is quite smart :p or are our teachers marking us easily?

P.S First assesment task - 6 people achieved 100%
Second assesment task - 2 people achieved 100%
Third assesment task - 4 people achieved 100%
Last year, a girl also got 100% in her trial.
P.P.S All of our adv. english teachers are/have been HSC markers.
Thanks for any opinions guys.

If more than 2 people are getting 100% it is a bad assessment because it does not differentiate between students. The ranks will not be as accurate as they should be.

Is there a reason why they are doing this? Will it affect our HSC much?

I've asked one of the teachers about this and she said that they don't mark easy because after each assesment they always get that desired bell curve of results which shows the differentiation of students and blah blah.

But yes, i do agree. The marking does seem linient and easy.

Could actually pull your eventual internal marks down because your HSC exam marks will be crap. "How come these kids managed 95+ but only got 75 in the HSC" = lowered internals. (Correct me if I'm wrong)

Doesn't prepare you to do well in the HSC exam if you're being awarded marks you wouldn't in the final exam.

Still easy marking.

I consistently got 12/15 and 16/20 (which is 80%) from my school, and I ended up getting a 93 internal and 98 external. Depends on how well you do in the HSC. :)

Haha it's incredibly hard to do that well consistently in most schools. If your school is simply fitting your marks to the bell curve, that's fairly worrying...

When you got the 12/15 and 16/20 marks, how did those scores compare with the rest of the grade?
