Well thats how they broke it down.. Running is only running, not a sport, unless it is competed for. Its not the answer.
encyclopedia said:
A sport consists of a physical activity or skill carried out with a recreational purpose: for competition, for self-enjoyment, to attain excellence, for the development of a skill, or some combination of these.

Who are "they"? Whoever "they" are don't know what "they" are talking about.

Guiness World Records, who made this list. Running, or track events, or marathon, is not the answer. Try again.

You dont have to be registered to actively participate in sport, (or so it is counted on this list) so football is not the answer.
Thatz pretty lame don't you think...?

Then swimming, track and field would have to be at the top.

The answer is running.
That is how running is defined, not running as a sport. Running is also performed in many sports, so unless you want to break down every activity in a specific sport ie. netball, perhaps breathing could be counted as well. Try again, you are wrong.

Simply running is not a sport. Running can be a sport, but if I had to run from here to the loo for example, I was not competing in a sport. There is track events as a sport, and then long distance running, which encompasses the marathon as a sport, as defined by this list.

Try Again.

Your arguement is preety weak, you havent proved shit, and I am getting this question from Guinness, the world foremost expert on records, so running is not the right answer, neither the other ones you posed. And I know you will contradict the answer, as I tried to when it was first posed to me. I said football. I was wrong. But me, a budding BoSer could hardly take on the might of Guinness, so for the meantime, keep guessing.
