I believe arms provokes violence and I think only the police should have it, and no one in the world other than them should not have weapons that kill people a the press of the trigger. They should use their hard work of winning a fight with their own hands.

Close combat, man to man, is plainly regarded as the real basis of combat
-Clausewitz

Guns are for whimps and will be used by whimps against the heroic and just. Pump some iron if you have

Yeah fighting is so noble.

Men should be able to bash women, and men who are smaller or weaker than them because they happen to be born with a different body.

This highlights why guns are so important. They are a great leveler.

Maybe the right to own a gun (via license) should follow a similar strict procedure to owning a driver's license. It should undergo a series of very strict tests of knowledge and application, and after all that, the owners would be much more inclined to use it wisely, especially if the bullet and gun can be traced back to the owner if used. This way the right to bear arms isnt actually infringed, but made kinda more sensible, and owners can be trusted.

If it were up to me, guns wouldn't exist except in video games and movies, but seeing from the amount of gun nuts already here, i think the whole licensing thing is a happy medium.

Lol but another thing to think about, the way the advocates of gun ownership act, here and on the streets, it makes you wonder are we actually safer with it? forget statistics for a second, because they mean nothing to the individual, and use your brain.

And yeah i saw bowling for columbine....what about it huh?

We allready have something like this. I dont know much about it, but i know there are classes of guns and that handguns are pretty much totally illegal for your normal citizen to have. If you are advocating for greater gun availablity in exchange for better licensing, i guess i could agree with this.

You cant put it back in the box. Besides, the world sure was a great place with no war, murdering, thieving going on before guns hey? oh wait.... humans have always killed each other, have always waged war. Guns do make this a bit more "efficient" i suppose, but they also give those who are physically weaker, outnumbered etc a way to defend themselves. Guns are a force equaliser, if a some hulking rapist and some slight girl each have a gun, they are essentially on an equal footing...no other tool can do that.

I am not sure what you are talking about. Gun advocates are overwhelmingly law abiding citizens, more so than the general population actually. Why did we see a spike in almost all crime, and homicides nearly doubling after the 1996 gun ban? i tend to think its because criminals now knew that they had an easy supply of victims who were 100% guaranteed to not be able to fight back effectively.

Australia has always been a relatively low crime country and i am thankful for that, but i dont pretend its because we dont have guns. We had a trend of lowering crime before they were banned because we are pretty peaceful. More guns in the hands of our normal, law abiding citizens wouldnt lead to more crime, it should in fact reduce it.

Columbine school shooting was more of a social problem about how fucked up that school is and how callus american culture can be towards those who are different, and a culture of solving your problems with violence[i.e guns when we are talking about a gun obsessed nation] when they pop up. We have had our own school murders as well, some guy in japan stabbed about 20 people when he went on a rampage..... not to mention the fact that in columbine the plan was to get most of their kills from bombs...bombs which can also be easily made here in Australia.... if guns didnt exist, they might not have killed as many people[ or they might have, who knows?] they would have just used different tools.

I could post more about gun control, but I doubt anything will be more convincing than a few quotes from the experts:

"Every good communist should know that political power grows out of the barrel of a gun, the Communist Party must control the guns."
Mao Tse Tung

"A system of licensing and registration is the perfect device to deny gun ownership to the bourgeoisie."

Vladimir I. Lenin, first leader of the Soviet Union

"You cannot invade the mainland United States. There would be a rifle behind each blade of grass."

Japanese Admiral Yamamoto, 1941

"This year will go down in history. For the first time, a civilized nation has full gun registration. Our streets will be safer, our police more efficient, and the world will follow our lead into the future."

Adolf Hitler, 1935

and of course the most chilling quote from the fuhrer in my sig.

you know that gun control is stupid when even the world's most famous pacifist disagrees with it

"Among the many misdeeds of the British rule in India, history will look upon the act of depriving a whole nation of arms, as the blackest"

Haha yeah nice quote mining bud.

"Arms" in this context were military arms not the personal weapons of private individuals. The context of "depriving of the whole nation of arms" was the refusal of the British to conscript Indians into the British Army during the First World War. Gandhi was an extreme anti-militarist. The statement is odd coming out of him, but he used the circumstance for political purposes to advance the cause of Home Rule and Independence.
Thanks for playing.

If you think food is produced by guns you're even more of a moron than I first suspected.
You're the moron who can't even read the sentence directly following that. Where did you learn to read? Or are you just that damn ignorant? I suspect it is the latter.
