I've been very sick with a chest infection and severe coughing all week long. That meant I missed any assessments for that week, including a History Essay and English Speaking Task! I was working with a partner in class on a role-play for Macbeth, and I just got word from a mate of mine that my partner has done his Speaking task with someone else.

I went to the doctor, whom referred me to a specialist, so as you can imagine, I was NOT slacking off or bludging to avoid my assessment and essay. I take these tasks very seriously. And I even have two doctor's notes to back me up. I just do not want anyone in the school, to get the idea that I'm lazy or tried to get out of the task, especially not my partner for the task.

I suppose the reason I'm asking this is because I'm a bit concerned whether or not my marks have been affected because of my absence, and what will become of my Essay and Speaking Task now that my partner has already done it with another classmate?

Ease my thoughts guys.

Aslong as you have a doctors certificate you will be fine.

You'll do your essay on a different day maybe with a different question. But they might change your speaking task so that you can do it by yourself.

i did that for yr10, 1on1 with the teacher is somewhat more nerve wrecking than doing it in front of the class...

Calm down!!
It's fine, because you HAVE been sick. You've got your doctor's certificate to prove it. And like a few other people said... It's only year 10

What happens in senior years, though, is either you get to do the assessment on the day you come back, or you get an assumed average of it based on other assessments you do in that year.

well my school's way of doing is quite different. This is what they tell us to do either wise a big fat zero in year 10!

Unless you are on some school excursion (another subject) you must attend the assesment. If you are sick that day, you must call the school and ask them to transfer you so you can speak to the deputy principal in charge for your school or the head teacher of that subject. The next day you come to school, you must hand in the assignment with a doctor's certificate (if parents are doctors then it does not count if their certificate), you need parents letter as well. If it was an exam same procedure but scheduled to another date.

I think the best thing to do would be to let the school know your situation and get a doctor's certificate. Anyway, if you received an assessment booklet or something like that from your school, I'm sure they would have outlined their policy in regards to this.

I think it really depends on your school but ive had the flu and sinusitis for the past few days :( and i have trials tomorrow and on friday so my parents have talked to the teachers at school and they have organised for me to do the trials whenever i return to school. They were actually quite supportive :) I think as long as you have a doctors cert. for the days you had the assessment you should be fine :)
GOOD LUCK! and hope your chest infection clears soon :)
