I don't get why going to a selective school would make you hate it. Personally, I quite enjoy socialising with people that share the same academically competitive mentality as I.
I like it and hate it at the same time lol. ugh idk I wasn't even meant to go to selective in the first place, just happened to fluke the test and got accepted in :/

Because there's this misconception that the kids at selective schools are way more snobbish then those who attend a comprehensive school. Of course, this isn't true as I've met many great blokes from NSB, James Ruse and BHHS, but unfortunately that's the perception many of my friends remain staunch on.

dat sense of alienation

I completely understand where your coming from as I have experienced it first hand, too. However, there's a part of me that thinks that those who go to highly prestigious schools have every right to act that way: it's as if they're bragging but they can afford to do so.
Please don't hate me for saying that, it's just that I've hated people for bragging about their academic achievements in the past: but now feel like they have the right to do so.

Hey, being consumed by pride is an inherent aspect of the human condition.

I'm not your typically selective school kid :p but I am very grateful to those around me who motivate me to work hard
