No. You can still get a band 6 - your teacher is not the only resource.

this

you can self-teach using textbooks and notes and if you need clarifying you can get a tutor or even ask around here on BoS

it could be useful in first sem but by no means is it necessary to do well, it just might be a tad easier to grasp some concepts early on.

Yeah, ext 1 maths, ext 2 English, chemistry, biology. Essentially it's 4 subjects but if course I would have 2 classes for English and bio each :)

You're dropping society and culture? :) Technically though, you'd still have seven classes; Mathematics, Maths Ext., English Adv., English Ext., English Ext. 2, Chemistry, and Biology. Hehe :3 ... I was actually pondering taking up EE2 in year 12 depending on how I go in the prelims, but at the same time, I really want to do MX2 as well, haha!

Which and how many have you read?
I have gotten about just under half of one of my texts (Fahrenheit 451) read.

lol i'm the total opposite. our school offers two electives for both yrs 9 and 10 and it offers one elective for just yr 9. i took commerce as my yr 9 elective and actually enjoyed it but i couldn't continue in yr 10 because there wasn't enough spaces in the other classes :hammer: now i'm just hoping that business studies and economics will be sort of similar to commerce :)
Wooah that's pretty weird  My school offers three electives from 9-10 (and the elective classes were exactly the same for 9 & 10). Lol, guess I just assumed all schools did the same. yayforignorance. Was yours kinda like the 100hr/ 200hr subject system? Haha I liked commerce too! Although I chose to do economics instead of business studies haha

Does anyone know if you have the same teachers for prelim and HSC? Cos I really wanna sort of ~bracemyself~ prepare accordingly if I get an...ahem teacher. //shot

Wish we could make some kind of group so we could share notes and help each other out. Everyone so far who has been active in this thread seems very dedicated to their studies, Good job guys! My school sits around 130s dropped from 114th-ish? Im planning to move schools, anyone know if its too late?

It depends what school you want to move to, I'd recommend you to check the website if your school of interest and see if they accept students for year 12 entry. Unfortunately, some schools do not accept students for year 12 entry: but it generally depends. Anyway, nice meeting you and all the best for the rest of 2014! xx

ahah yeah our school has this weird system where you get two 200hr electives and one 100hr because in yr 10 we have this 'independent learning program' where we learn stuff and make projects by ourselves but it was seriously so bludge and a waste of time  i wish i could have done commerce instead of it... instead i spent 100 hours playing games on my laptop and socialising :p

i ended up choosing both business and economics because i don't like science as much now!

Omgosh, my school has this thing that's pretty much meant to be an "Project-learning" curriculum which takes up half of Term 4. It was meant to "put us in a real-life scenario" but instead it was pretty much just bludge lol. Five weeks of pure eating, gaming, chatting and some stressing really didn't help acquaint me with the grand scheme of the "real" world. :p

Wow  Eco (Wecanbeecobuddies!) and Business S. that's pretty intense hahaha. Do the syllabuses overlap, kinda like IPT and SDD, or is it just completely different?

Confusion: How do people already know what texts they should be reading? <> Don't different teachers pick different texts? (Do you guys know your timetables yet? So excited for frees! :DD)
