Hi everyone,

my current subjects are:

(chosen) - Modern History, Chemistry, Physics, Maths Ext. 1
(school req) English Advanced, Religon 1unit, Mathematics

I'm not enjoying Physics at all. My prior plans were to go to do a Bachelor of Aviation at UNSW, but it is boring, and currently not really enjoying it. For a while it was okay, but Chemistry is far better, and Physics is beginning to bore me. The course at UNSW said Physics was recommended, but not necessary. But it seems like if you dont do it you will fail.

I like debating, mock trial, (anyone else on here do mock trial - i need help, but thats for another time) public speaking, law, youth parliament, maths, sciences.

So basically nothing in particular.

I was considering Economics or Legal Studies instead of Phys, but are there any good alternatives for me that could have some useful place in either politics or aviation?

Thankyou

Do you do Economics?

If so are you enjoying it/what are you covering?

Thanks

Some of the stuff so far:
The Economic Problem - Unlimited needs and wants BUT Limited resources
Opportunity Cost
Production Possibility Curves and Frontiers
Economic Factors > Decision Making

Current Choices > Current Implications > Future Implications - (Look at the next two lines)
Spend resources > Higher living standards (consumer goods) > Lower living standards (consumer goods)
Save resources > Lower living standards (capital goods) > Higher living standards (capital goods)

Operation of An Economy
- Production (What, how much and how to produce)
- Distribution and Exchange (To whom to distribute)

The four factors of Production and Factor Income returns
Land - Rent
Labour - Wages
Capital - Interest
Enterprise - Profit

The circular flow of income MODEL (Injections and Leakages)
Two sector model, Three sector model, Four Sector model and Five sector model

Economies:
Their similarities and differences
- Type of economies

Economics also has formulaes such as Revenue = Price x Quantity or Y = E = O (Income = Expenditure = Output) or S (Saving) + T (Taxation) + M (Imports) = I (Investment) + G (Government Spending) + X (Exports), etc.

Economics is basically the Physics of Social Science!

It's truly an interesting subject and yeah!

Why do you hate physics for dude? My class started off with Moving About. It could be much better but its not bad. If you started with a topic like The World Communicates do not drop. Its only that boring for a while.

To be honest, The World Communicates isn't THAT BAD... He probably knows for sure that he and Physics aren't meant to be.....

My class is basically getting no work done because we've got a communist supporting student and a capitalist teacher who always argue :(

electricity and motion are probably the best parts in year 11 physics

if you want to drop, drop

i recommend however that you wait till the end of the year 11.

I found Economics interesting, useful and enjoyable at the same time. It's applicable to so many things- even aviation-cost of wages for pilot, cost/benefit analysis of particular routes, etc, etc.

Anyway, Physics is of course useful too.

Ultimately it's up to you

I'm loving physics so far. We started off with The World Communicates, and it's no where near as bad as people make it out to be. It's quite enjoyable actually.

We started off with what I believe is The World Communicates.

All we have done, is sound and electromagnetic waves.

TBH, my teacher is quite boring, so I dont know if it's him or the subject.

But it just seems boring..

Legal studies seems really hard, and Economics seems extremely hard.

Besides those two, im not really considering anything else.

Once you learn the basics of economics, it isn't really that hard at all.

Phwoar! If you want to do aviation, I would seriously consider sticking with Physics. It will help to have an understanding of HSC Physics when undertaking 1st year Physics and Engineering type subjects.

If you choose to drop it, there is always the option of doing a bridging course before starting your course (Im sure there would be one offered by UNSW), but you will still be at a significant disadvantage.
