    Bias in SOR

Let's not forget the fact that Australia is a predominantly Christian country. Although we do have lots of religious diversity, the large majority of the populus is still Christian which would have an incredibly large influence on us having to study the tradition.

    economics essays

Plus, if nothing else, they give you a way to demonstrate by example just what you're talking about, and allow you to write more if you're stuck for things to talk about :D

What business topics r u having in ur trials?

I'm the same as Deus - my trials will cover the entire course. How exactly do they write a 3 hour trial exam paper if you haven't covered all the topics? Like, do they give you more questions about the other topics or something?

The overall motivation of SOR1 candidature

That's exactly the kind of model I was after! Where perhaps the student doesn't choose the whole thing themselves, but certain aspects of it are flexible and can be chosen. Are there many problems with how this is set up at your school, like, are there many disputes?

The overall motivation of SOR1 candidature

So if your total internal assessment is out of 50 and your trial is worth 22.5, doesn't that mean your trial has a total weighting of 45% which would be reasonable if your ISP was only worth 10% for 1 unit. At my school we've had 3 tasks (speech 20%, ISP 20%, extended response 20%) and have...

The overall motivation of SOR1 candidature

Yeah, SOR1 at my school we had a speech, the ISP, a sighted extended response (all worth 20% each) and the trial worth 40%. Our teacher says that he could've quite easily ran 3 tasks but then there'd be significantly higher weightings for each, which I wouldn't really like, so 4 tasks...

The overall motivation of SOR1 candidature

Oh ok, my bad. I suppose you've gotta expect that for a 1 unit subject that only has 4 assessment tasks, and it's not as bad as History Extension which has their major task worth 60%. But yeah, thanks for all the feedback guys and girls! Now I know that my original proposal was pretty lame...

The overall motivation of SOR1 candidature

My school also didn't have any half-yearly exams for SOR1 either so I'm pretty much in the same boat as you. I'm not sure about your school, but the trial HSC exam at my school for SOR1 is worth 40% so the first time I get a chance at an exam, I'm sitting for almost half the course's assessment...

The overall motivation of SOR1 candidature

Oops, sorry for putting it in the wrong location snapper. I'm currently doing the Cross-Religion Study so I went there without thinking. :S You are totally right in saying that some religions are easier than others, which is why I did Judaism for my last assessment task seeing as how it only...

The overall motivation of SOR1 candidature

Yeah that was the same setup they had at my school prior to 2004. But then they noticed that quite a few people who were *sure* that SOR1 would not count towards their UAI actually did, and scales incredibly well for a 1 unit non-extension subject. Such was their decision to force everyone to do...

The overall motivation of SOR1 candidature

Yep and if the general trend in students is to be slack and we do well then we'll get a higher ranking and be scaled up :)
  12. S

The overall motivation of SOR1 candidature

Yeah that's the problem :( My grade as I said is HUGE with 180 students doing SOR1 so it'd be a nightmare. Oh well we'll just have to put up with it I guess :P and hope we do well
  13. S

The overall motivation of SOR1 candidature

Wow! Well my school doesn't tend to do too well in either SOR classes, and we only got 1 band 6 last year out of about 200 students. But yeah I just think independent learning where the students have a say in what tradition they'd like to study would be better because while a lot of students...

The overall motivation of SOR1 candidature

Wow, Tulipa, you had to do SOR2 for the preliminary course? I probably should have done SOR2 in hindsight because I even beat a lot of them in this task (there's only 1 SOR2 class and 9 SOR1 classes) :P I guess my grade is only the second year where my school has made the study of religion...

The overall motivation of SOR1 candidature

I don't have problem with my own performance, but people keep complaining that the candidature for this subject perform lousy. I want to know what you think on the issue of us being allowed to do our own study of a particular religion of our choosing rather than having the school choose one for...

The overall motivation of SOR1 candidature

Hey guys and girls, I've found at my school that because it's Catholic and we're forced to do at least 1 unit of SOR that the candidature just doesn't try in this subject. For instance, in the last assessment task we had to do, which was exactly the same as Question 14 of last year's HSC...

    Maths marks?

I don't think you have much to worry about. With assessment marks consistently in band 6 you are heading for a very good mark in General Mathematics :) Just try your hardest and keep doing well and I bet you will do incredibly well.

    Major Project 2005

I just handed in my IPT major project on multimedia about 25 minutes ago, hahahaha. It's worth 30% of the course and I worked real hard on it (6300 words and 29 pages) but as always, I'll just have to wait until the results come back to see how I went. Good luck to all of you with your major...

    Stuffed internal assessment marking

I forgot to mention it is meant to be a transcript for a radio program, acting as a HSC forum run by students for students. (Edited post to fix this). It doesn't particularly matter too much that the questions I created are unrealistic with respect to the actual questions likely to be asked...

    Stuffed internal assessment marking

Hey all, I was really happy with the work I produced with respect to Module C; Elective 1: Institutions and the Individual Experience and the novel "Raw" as the prescribed text. We were assigned a task to: 1) create a 200-word introduction statement that briefs the task with respect to...
