I think it depends on whether you're interested in law. Having received a similar uni entrance mark, it seems that comfortable distinctions are achievable for first year law subjects without doing all the readings etc., although I'm struggling a bit in commerce.
There are alot of first aid courses on offer, not just the St Johns Ambulance one. If you have plenty of time it might be worth doing the St Johns Ambulance one but if you're after a certificate for employment purposes you can do a half day one.
