Applying for Scholarships: Advice for Personal Statement?

There is a separate form for achievements and grades. Sure you can write them (and you probably should mention them). But the personal statement is just that. Personal. Talk about yourself, your interests, your passions.

    Science papers are to short

I think by too short the OP means the exam doesn't take 3 hours to finish. In fact it usually takes much less time.

Sorry mate, I normally log on jsut to check private PMs, and browse the current affairs section. Didn't check this thread. The answer is no, the ball does not stop for a very short finite amount of time. edit: The ball should "stop" for a infinitely small period of time , this however is...

    Namu has a Question

"Find the probability that the fourth Q Bob attempts is the 2nd that he answers correctly." From this wording, I think it actually does imply that the 4th attempt must mean winning. Although what is the exact wording of the question? I do agree however that probability questions are sometimes...

    Go selective, or stay?

Changing schools is not (solely) about getting better grades. It's about pushing your comfort zones. It's about meeting new people It's about making connections. It's about developing as a person. Ultimately, these will be more important in the later years.

    humanities/scaling

Yes it is possible to get high 90's UAI with low raw 90s. It's even possible to get it with high 80's. But to maximise your chance, you ofcourse want your marks to be as high as possible.

Students Against Scaling - Post Here!

I want to know specifically and in detail why you dislike the scaling system. Also standardised assessments are very hard to implement. First you'd need a 4-6 break for each assessment period, to ensure that each subject is tested across the board at the same time, otherwise people could...

Students Against Scaling - Post Here!

You're right we should have no aligning. I'm sure plenty of schools will make VERY VERY hard assessments to differentiate their students. In fact I think with the introduction of no aligning most schools won't just put incredibly easy assessments so their students can get the highest UAI (/ATAR)...

Students Against Scaling - Post Here!

ATAR and HSC are more or less the same system. SAME scaling, only difference is ATAR has no 100UAI First of all you just scaled marks. Yes you do have scaling, only difference is that yours is linear. Second how are you going to get the school based assessment mark without aligning? I spose...

Students Against Scaling - Post Here!

That's the same as "scaling". General: E.g. for every 10% in the final exam they get 9.2 raw marks 4u: For every 10% in the final exam they get 10 raw marks. Only your version is much more linear (and more shit.)
