    Loving the BoS?

My mouth dropped just as much too. :P I left Yeats to last though, and I swear I mentioned textual integrity about 5 times, so I did that right!! :P I thought I wouldn't have enough time, so I analysed When You Are Old line by line, describing my perspective on it, and how his 'poetic...

Why do people always go on about pages written?

Also, pages written doesn't mean much. It's the content that matters. Questions should revolve more around, "How many themes did you discuss?" Or, "How much did you speak about the context?" Or, "How well did you answer the question?" Heh.

    Loving the BoS?

The texts I've studies have all had lovely questions. BR/BNW simply asked for the relationship with nature to be shown, then you just had to tie in the contexts, and it was sweet. Module B(Yeats poetry) was simple. Just show how his poetic techniques create 'memorable moments', or something...

    Thesis -history And Memory

I just realised, Hatta, we do all the same Texts. Weird...for someone else to do Yeats, Fiftieth Gate AND BR/BNW. Well we better show everyone else up!

    The Fiftieth Gate

I'm doing "The Mascot" - a documentary of Mark Kurzem(the director), his father was a Jewish boy, whose family were massacred by SS officers. He escaped, and was adopted by an SS officer's family, and made into a 'Nazi' boy. It links really well with the 'Individual memory' from Genia's history...

    The Fiftieth Gate

Who's studying Mark Baker's text? I can't seem to find many, heh. Just wondering, do you guys spend most of the time on the main text? I've got two texts that relate very closely, and I always get tempted to talk about those a lot. In the trials I got 18/20, and kind of wrote a little more...

    Yeats

I'm doing Wild Swans at Coole and The Second Coming, and then either Sailing to Byzantium or When You Are Old(Depending on the question). I find Wild Swans to be an easy-ish poem, filled with a lot of techniques that show his feelings at that time in his life. Feeling he'd lost his poetic touch...

Essential to write about Critical interpretations?

They aren't essential, and you should only use them if they back up what you are trying to say about your text. YOUR interpretation is what they want - and if you can show evidence that other readings justify it, use it. However, it's not necessary. People often fall into the trap of talking...

The Second Coming [Yeats] What/Who is the beast?

It is a figure of an anti-christ, yeah. It's representative of a Sphinx, "A shape with lion body and the head of a man". The line, "Vexed to nightmare by a rocking cradle" is representative of Christ's birth, however Yeats is questioning, with so much disorder in the world, what is going to...

    Yeats

My god, English writers being that nice to us? I'd love to see the day! If it was a question along those lines, I think you'd hear a mass cheer when everyone reads the question. :haha:

    Sleeping issues

Indeed, I've got the same problems. Wake up in the middle of the night shouting themes and techniques (No, not literally, but it's just as bad. :P)

    Itw Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well I can't stress it enough - Context, Context, CONTEXT. The module stresses "Texts and Contexts". You need to talk a lot about what was happening in the era, then weave quotes and techniques through your response to show you know what you are talking about. Example, "The rise of totalitarian...

    Yeats help please.

Thanks. That's generally the way I approach them too. When you use your interpretation, what do you say, not simply, "My interpretation, eh?"

Module B- will they ask for specific analysis on a poem?

What's the best way to answer a Yeats Essay? The way I do it, I give my thesis, address the question and blabble with english jargon for a few lines. Then I start with the first poem, show detailed reference, and address the themes - showing it maintains textual integrity. Then I use a reading...

    Yeats help please.

Hi guys, Does anyone know how you should approach a Yeats Essay to get into the A range? My best is 15/20, and I want to push it up. Is it best to answer the question, poem by poem, showing techniques/their structure/direct quoting from the poems, and using readings with them? Or, is it best...

    Q26 - Distribution strategies

Indeed. Hence why it's best to cover all bases when seeing a distribution question. Even though it asks reccommend ONE, you can analyse a series of methods that suit her, and can be implemented at different stages of her expansion.

How much did you write for section 1?

How do you manage 8 pages? =/ I used 4 1/2, and I think I answered the questions sufficiently! Is your writing big? I fit about 15 words per line. "Please Explain" - *Pauline Hanson voice*
