Everybody should just stop bashing other universities.
Yes, UWS has lower ATAR requirements than other unis, and yes, that does draw in people who didn’t do as well as those at unis like UNSW or Usyd. But in a few years when everybody has completed the same degrees, to the same standards as any other student at any other university, it’s all going to come down to the job interview...
If 5 graduates attended interviews for the same job, it wouldn’t be about where they attended uni. It would be about their marks, their personality and ability to respond to the questions, and in some cases, any experience they may have.
Honestly, if it matters so much to people that they attend a Uni that has more prestige and more like minded students, than by all means, work towards attending the uni of your dreams. But please don’t criticise UWS purely on the basis that it is a less ‘prestigious’ university. Not everybody goes to UWS because their some dropkick that doesn’t care where they go in life...
If I could have, I would have chosen to go to Usyd or Macquarie. UWS was the only university I could go to because of my work, and I do not feel in the slightest that I am in any way jeopardising my future by doing it.
