If Azizi plays in the A-League that would be awesome, not disgraceful. Australia lost their place in the World Cup on their own accord - Azizi didn't take it from them.

Disgraceful as in he'd be a never any good, overpaid hack who couldn't put as many bums on seats as other marquee players could. The fact that he was a part of the most painful Australian footballing moment ever makes it worse.

Oh and heres an article on the A-League posted before Dwighty signed:

New Yorke interest

By Matthew Hall
April 17, 2005

A list of European talent is lining up to talk with Sydney FC if the A-League club fails to sign Birmingham City striker Dwight Yorke.

Former Manchester United star Teddy Sheringham, former Real Madrid midfielder Steve McManaman and Everton striker Duncan Ferguson head a list of big-name veterans that also includes former England internationals Paul Ince, Graeme Le Saux and Martin Keown.

The players, Premier League stars in the 1990s, have been alerted to extending their careers in Australia by Yorke's flirtation with the A-League.

Sydney FC chief executive Andy Harper yesterday rejected reports that his club had already signed Yorke.

"For the right figure they will come out," player agent Terry Palapanis said. "They are affordable. (Former Real Madrid and Argentina midfielder) Fernando Redondo wanted $3 million for a season in Australia, but these guys are more realistic. They will come for $1 million."

After quitting Manchester United for Tottenham Hotspur in 2001, 39-year-old Sheringham is with championship side West Ham United until the end of the English season. McManaman, a former Liverpool player, is at Manchester City after several successful years with Real Madrid.

Palapanis said he had been contacted by a British counterpart who ensured him the players were available and fit.

"There are quality players available in South America who cost $500,000, but Sydney have told me they want an attacking player who has star quality," Palapanis said. "Well, Teddy Sheringham, Duncan Ferguson and Steve McManaman are all of that."

Harper confirmed the approach, but said the club was still hopeful Yorke would agree terms with the A-League side.

"There is no plan B yet," Harper said. "The situation with Dwight is still as promising as ever. He made it clear to us he loves Sydney. It wasn't a difficult sell."

Queensland Roar, meanwhile, is looking towards South America to fill the remaining vacancy on its 20-man roster. The opening has come about after South Korean striker Jang Min-suk made false claims about his career, and was dumped by the club last week.

The Roar will play a match against local side Frenchville United on April 23, and coach Miron Bleiberg will use the game to trial two strikers, an unnamed Argentinian and Uruguayan Osvaldo Carro of Plaza Colonia.

Perth Glory has signed little-known striker Neil Teggart, a former Northern Ireland youth international, on the recommendation of several of coach Steve McMahon's British-based contacts.

Funny thing is this guy had a trial there and apparently impressed the coaching staff at Roar. Hope it's not an indication of how good their squad is.

Heskey scored something like 25 goals in Liverpool's treble season of 2001. He's not that bad a player, just prone to losing all confidence. Great guy too. He donated 200k to Leicester when they were about to go under from debts and has been wearing the Hillsborough wrist band for quite a few matches this season.
