What do you think of the alternate name and version of Australia Day?

Would it ever be properly celebrated or is it too far-fetched.

Invasion has negative connotations and would never be chosen. Invasion also implies that white people came here with the purpose of attacking the indigenous people. That's not to say that terrible things didn't happen, but that invasion day isn't right. So maybe settlement day would be better. But it will never change. We don't need to change the name of a day to have awareness of the really awful things that happened in the past.

Fuck the abbos, fuck the whites and fuck Australia too.

Lets celebrate Individual Day.
I wasn't looking or appreciate racist comments. Just a general insight into what people thought and if thats what you think. Don't spread it around here.

Australia Day's a load of crap.

The only way that day will be different for me from any other is me wearing my Aboriginal flag t-shirt so I can revel in the filthy looks from rednecks.

I agree with this. Also, its implicit condemnation has the potential to further divide Caucasian and Aboriginal Australians, which we should really be trying to move on from now.

So what if it makes you uncomfortable? It was an invasion, stop sugar coating it.

"Hitler's settlement of Poland in 1939..."

Dont be ridiculous Will, it was in no way an invasion. Nomadic tribes with no concept of property can't be invaded.
