    HELP

I wouldn't suggest trying to memorise whole essays for Legal. Instead, memorise essay PLANS - the key points you would address for each question, including your key examples/cases/legislation/media reports. Good luck. :)

ESSAY MARKING: English + Humanities, $25 (98.9 ATAR, law grad, pre-service teacher)

Hi all, It is that time of the year again...coming up to half-yearlies and trials, it is a great time to write some responses and practice your writing skills. I have graduated from a top-ranking Sydney selective school and have completed a Law/Arts degree with a Distinction average. I am...

Can you use your ATAR from last year to transfer?

Call the UTS Law student centre. I'm fairly sure they use either your first year uni grades or your ATAR, whichever is higher.

    Jobs + HSC help

Try to find a flexible casual job like tutoring, babysitting, gardening for neighbours, etc. Even if you only work a few hours a week, that should still cover you necessities (if you don't pay rent).

    Study timetable

Yep. And in my experience, teachers are generally understanding about not doing HW if you studied the content in your own way and absorbed everything.

    Organisation help

My system for year 11 and 12 (before I got lazy at least): - Take a big lever arch folder to school with lined paper, dividers and a hole punch for photocopies - use this to keep the current topic's work - At the end of every topic, empty out everything into individual subject folders at home...

    Terror Trial Timetables?

Having double exam days is alright, you just kind of battle through it and then go home and sleep really well haha. Just make sure you eat breakfast and lunch, and DON'T stay up the night before.

    Should I drop ext maths?

I'm usually all for dropping maths... but given that you aren't sure about your drama marks, I'd prob keep it. Also Girraween should have fairly strong maths results, so your rank definitely isn't that bad.

Which library do you study at?

I haaate libraries. Much prefer being at home in my pajamas where I can eat and fidget as much as I want. (Granted, my productivity levels are abysmal, but being in a library doesn't change that...)

    Words in 40 minutes?

1000 is a good benchmark - it is definitely possible to get full marks in a 1000 word essay, and it's an achievable length (with practice). I'd say that anything <800 words would start to lose marks because it just wouldn't be covering enough content.

How does one 'Top the State'?

Yes. If you are ranked first in your school you will not be pulled down by your cohort. It's possible for any student to achieve a state rank.

Yeah, B's aren't ideal but Sydney Boys loves sporting achievements so you have a fairly good chance.

Being forced to repeat or do pathways for HSC, NEED URGENT HELP!

Okay. In your next meeting I would (very, very respectfully) ask your principal for another chance. Stop with the self-pitying attitude because you have obviously brought this on yourself. But I would hope that your school would give you the chance to do your next assessments and prove that...

Being forced to repeat or do pathways for HSC, NEED URGENT HELP!

Just a note - doctors can't backdate medical certificates. You should have seen a doctor at the time. (I'm surprised that you didn't, considering you're at a school that obviously cares about attendance.) That being said, your school is supposed to give you/your parents a warning, telling you...

Has anyone here gotten a Band 6 for History or Legal by memorising essays in HSC?

Memorised my options essays for legal and got 96. That being said, I did have a thorough knowledge of the topics and would have been able to twist my master essay to fit any question. I would never have just regurgitated it word for word. Definitely wouldn't memorise anything for the crime...
